Doubting Thomas Bible Story for Kids Overview
The story of Doubting Thomas, found in John 20:19–29, centers on the apostle Thomas, who initially doubts reports of Jesus’ resurrection. After Jesus rises from the dead, He appears to some of His disciples, but Thomas isn’t there for it. When the others tell Thomas they saw Jesus, Thomas declares he won’t believe unless he sees and touches Jesus’ wounds. Eight days later, Jesus appears again, inviting Thomas to touch His hands and side. Overwhelmed, Thomas believes and boldly procliams, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus tells Thomas, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” The story highlights themes of doubt, faith, and personal encounters with Jesus. This is also the story that earned Thomas the nickname “Doubting Thomas.”
