The One from Heaven Radio Transcript

It’s time to Hear the Word! Our reading is adapted from John, Chapter 3 Verses 22-36, titled, The One from Heaven, read by Luke, age 8. Now, let’s Hear the Word, together!

Jesus and his disciples spent time baptizing in the Judean countryside.

John the Baptist was also baptizing people and one day John’s disciples approached him and said, “Rabbi, Jesus and his disciples are baptizing people and everyone’s going to them!”

John replied, “No one can receive anything, not one thing, unless it has been given from heaven. You heard me say, ‘I am not the messiah, but I’ve been sent ahead of him. Understand, the one with the bride is the groom. And the groom’s friend stands by, listens, and rejoices when he hears his voice. Jesus is the groom and I am the friend. I rejoice at the sound of his voice. You see, he must increase and I must decrease.

Jesus is the one who came down from heaven. He is above all things. We are from the earth and speak of earthly things. Jesus is from heaven and shares with us what he has seen and heard, and yet, few accept what he says.

But the one who does accept his words accepts that God is true. Jesus, the Messiah, speaks God’s words since he gives the spirit without limit.

God the father loves the son and has given all things into his hands. Those who believe in the son have eternal life. And the one who rejects the son will not see life. Instead, God’s judgment will remain on him.

“John responded, ‘No one can receive anything unless it has been given to him from heaven.’”

John 3:27 (CSB)

Takeaway

This Bible reading was adapted from John, Chapter 3 Verses 22-36. John the Baptist’s disciples seem to have felt a little jealous that more people were being baptized by Jesus and his disciples rather than John. John reminds his disciples that Jesus is above all things and all glory is his. We need to be less focused on what we want and more focused on the glory of Jesus.
