Narrator Penny is back! In this episode, Jesus boldly teaches about the will of God. Jesus also explains that the religious leaders have no love for God, but instead honor one another and study the Scripture thinking they’ll attain eternal life.
The Will of My Father Radio Transcript
It’s time to Hear the Word! Our reading is adapted from John, Chapter 5 Verses 19-47, titled, The Will of My Father, read by Penny, age 12. Now, let’s Hear the Word, together!
Jesus spoke to the Jewish leaders, saying, “Truly I tell you, the son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he has seen the Father do. Whatever the Father does, the Son does too. The Father loves the Son and shows him everything, and he will show even greater works so that you will be amazed.”
The Father raises the dead and gives life, and so, the Son gives life to those he chooses. The Father judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. If you do not honor the son, you do not honor the Father who sent him.
Anyone who hears my words and believes in God has eternal life and will not be judged. For they have passed from death to life.
The hour is coming, and is here now, when the dead will hear my voice, the voice of the Son of God. And those who hear will live. They will come out – the righteous to the resurrection of life, and the wicked to judgment.
I do what God tells me. And my judgment is good because I do the will of God.
John the Baptist told you about me, and you rejoiced for a while in his message. But someone greater than John, the Father himself, is telling you who I am through the work he’s given me to do. You haven’t heard his voice. You’ve never seen his face. And you don’t have his words in your heart because you don’t believe me, the one he sent.
You study the Scriptures because you think they’ll give you eternal life. But you are not willing to believe in me, the one the Scriptures are about, the one who gives life.
You have no love for God. You seek to honor and accept one another but do not accept me, the one sent by the Father. You claim to believe in Moses, but if you believed in him you would believe in me because Moses wrote about me in the Scriptures.
Tell me, if you do not believe what Moses wrote, how will you ever believe the words I speak to you now?”
“Truly I tell you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.”

Takeaway
This Bible reading was adapted from John, Chapter 5 verses 1-18. The story reminds us to focus on where God is at work. While the religious leaders were angry that a man carried his mat on the Sabbath, they missed the fact that God was at work healing the sick. Remember, God is still at work. Where are you seeing God’s work in
