The Savior of the World Radio Transcript

It’s time to Hear the Word! Our reading is adapted from John, Chapter 4 Verses 27-42, titled, The Savior of the World, read by Arielle, age 12. Now, let’s Hear the Word, together!

Jesus’ disciples returned and were surprised to see Him speaking with a Samaritan woman. But they did not ask why he was talking with her.

The woman left her water jar, went back to town, and told the people, “Come meet a man who told me everything I ever did. Could he be the Messiah?”

They left the town and made their way to see Jesus.

Meanwhile, the disciple urged Jesus to eat, “Rabbi, eat something!”

Jesus told them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”

The disciples asked one another, “How is that possible? Could someone have brought him something to eat when we weren’t looking?”

Jesus responded, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish his work.

Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months before the harvest?’ Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields because they are ready for the harvest.

The reaper is receiving pay and gathering fruit for eternal life. The sower and the reaper can rejoice together! In this case, the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap what you didn’t work for, others have worked and you have benefited from their labor.”

When the Samaritans arrived they asked Jesus to stay with them, so He did for two days. Many more believed in Jesus after hearing His words. They told the woman, “We no longer believe because of what you told us because we have now heard it for ourselves. Jesus truly is the Savior of the world.”

“’My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work,’ Jesus told them.”

John 4:34 (CSB)

Takeaway

This Bible reading was adapted from John, Chapter 4 verses 27-42. It’s interesting that Jesus’ disciples were concerned about making sure he was eating, while Jesus was concerned about doing God’s will. Jesus knew he was here to bring people back to God, and that’s exactly what he did for this town of Samaritans, and for all of us who believe in him.
